About Project UNITE

Program Description

Project UNITE aims to address the needs of transition-age youth (TAY) by focusing on early intervention and provision of mental health supports for young adults with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental health disorders and their family members.

Project’s Goals include:

  1. Implementation of mental health screenings
  2. Continuation of TAY Collaborative
  3. Development of wellness/drop-in center
  4. Development and implementation of Parent Mentor Program

Anticipated Outcomes include:

  1. Increase in the number of mental health screenings offered at WRC.
  2. Increase the number of young adults participating in psycho-educational interventions at a wellness/drop-in program in order to increase their adaptive behaviors, community integration, and decrease crisis situations.
  3. Enhance skills of parents and caregivers of young adults with dual diagnosis in system navigation, coping skills, sense of empowerment to effect change or obtain appropriate services for youth, and/or ability to address specific problems presented.
